JOHN BENJAMIN
WRITER
I mostly write about business and government – and how ideology clouds our understanding of each.
Our most powerful institutions are not well understood. I focus on these things because, often, the people in charge hide their real interests. They cloak selfishness in fancy jargon or apparently high-minded principles.
But if you sit with these ideas for a second – or just meet these people – you realize how the tricks are pulled. Especially in business, the most skilled people are loathe to write about it in this way. And the people who do want to write about it are often unaware of how things really work.
Other topics I care about: Israel-Palestine, public opinion, electoral politics, filmmaking
